The Poetry Business Partner Workshops

In the words of The Poetry Trust: Peter and Ann Sansom "are incomparably experienced and inspirational tutors with a brilliant repertoire of exercises”.

They have led hundreds of writing workshops in schools, workplaces, libraries and prisons over nearly three decades; and worked as visiting lecturers in various universities and are regular tutors for the Arvon Foundation .

With consistently high praise for their techniques and practice, The Guardian described them as "the best poetry teachers in the world".

School workshops

Ann and Peter have worked with all age-ranges, 'gifted and talented' students, pupils 'at risk of exclusion', and hearing-impaired students, in private schools and comprehensives across the UK. Ann has also taught in schools in India. See here for full details.

Bookings are available for morning, afternoon or full-day sessions.

INSET days & workplace workshops

Creative writing workshops in the workplace are a highly effective teambuilding exercise, with proven benefits for staff morale and relationships.

Ann and Peter Sansom have provided workshops in a range of workplaces, including First Direct Bank, Burmantofts Senior Action and Leeds and Bury art galleries.

Peter has been poet-in-residence for The Prudential and Marks & Spencer, providing year-long programmes of workshops for staff at all levels of the company, and producing Point of Sale (Carcanet), a collection inspired by his time at Marks & Spencer.

Ann has led workshops and provided one-on-one writing support in various prisons (for staff and inmates), including HMP Lindholme, HMP Armley and HMP Askham Grange.

Bookings of workplace workshops are available for one-off sessions and ongoing partnerships. Ann and Peter are both currently available for residencies.

Library workshops

Ann and Peter have led writing workshops in libraries around the country, including a weekly class in Huddersfield City Library between 1991 and 1995. See here for more information.

Services can be provided free of charge (to the library) where we are able to charge a fee to the attendees.
