ArText Symposium at Bank Street Arts

As part of a collaborative project looking at the relationship between art and language in its widest sense, Bank Street Arts in conjunction with The University of Sheffield is staging a two-day Symposium, alongside an exhibition of the same name, in May 2012.

The Symposium is supported by The University Of Sheffield. Attendance is free if booked in advance. Places are strictly limited and they require a deposit of £30 to confirm a place (repayable on the day of the Symposium). Delegates may book for one or both days – for an outline programme and Application form click here.

The exhibition runs from 8-23 May and consists of work by writers, poets, artists, academics, photographers and calligraphers and will include everything from reproductions of Anglo Saxon Manuscripts to photography as well as works specifically created for this exhibition.

The exhibition aims to provide a discursive backdrop to the ‘ArText’ Symposium as opposed to an extensive overview of this field. It is hoped that participants at the Symposium will play an active role in defining the development of this project. The event will be filmed and a website created to act as the focus for the potential expansion of the project rather than as an archive of the day(s) or exhibits. They are looking for those with an interest in discussing and contributing to the development of this project to attend as delegates.

Event dates: 11/05/2012 - 12/05/2012
10 am-5 pm

Bank Street Arts, 32-40 Bank Street, Sheffield S1 2DS
