The Yorkshire Poetry Prize with guest poets John Foggin and Stuart Pickford

Friday 4th November | 7.30pm | The Art House, Sheffield

 

The Yorkshire Poetry Prize category honours the best single poem from a collection submitted to the Book & Pamphlet Competition by an entrant with a Yorkshire post code.

 

The 2016 Competition

In the Yorkshire Poetry Prize category the winner was:

 

Charlotte Wetton with her poem 'Home Safe'.

2nd prize goes to Ann Pilling for ' Breasts' and Joint 3rd to Andrew Lambeth for 'Ouroborus' and Mike di Placido for 'And How'. 

 

Stuart Pickford is the recipient of an Eric Gregory Award. His first collection was published by Redbeck Press in 2001 and was short-listed for the Forward Best First Collection prize. He has twice been commended in the National Poetry Competition, the last time in 2012 for his poem ‘Swimming with Jellyfish.’ He was the winner of the Poetry Business Book and Pamphlet Competition Yorkshire Poetry Prize in 2013-14 for his poem ‘Moon.’

 

John Foggin has been a teacher, lecturer and LEA English/Drama Adviser. He lives in West Yorkshire where he jointly organises Puzzle Poets Live in Calderdale, and writes a weekly poetry blog, the great fogginzo’s cobweb. His work has appeared in The North, The New Writer, Prole, and The Interpreters House, among others.

His poems have won first prizes in competitions including The Plough [2013,2014], and The Mclellan [2015] He has authored four pamphlets :Running out of space , Backtracks, Larach[Ward Wood Publishing 2014], and his latest is Outlaws and fallen Angels [Calder valley Poetry 2016]

John was one of the winners of the 2015 /16 Poetry Business Book and Pamphlet Competition with his pamphlet 'Much Possessed'.
