Glue | Louise Wallwein | Contains Strong Language Festival

Louise Wallwein, an explosive and award-winning Poet and Playwright, will be performing and reading from Glue (the script) and Glue (the book) at Hull City of Culture Contains Strong Language Festival this September–October.

“The writing, which is top notch, weaves from conversational script to poetry to storytelling and back again. Beautiful complex strong work.” – Michelle Green

Glue (the book)

Glue expands on the true-life script of Louise’s first two meetings with her birth mother, three decades after being put up for adoption. This ‘extended-remix’, features outstanding poems and vivid prose, retelling a childhood shuttled from one carer to another. Clear-eyed, affecting, witty and engaging, Glue is often disturbing but is also ultimately life-affirming.

Glue (performance)

Louise Wallwein grew up in the care of nuns from the age of 9. GLUE is a frank and gripping true story of her first meetings with her birth mother, three decades after being put up for adoption. The world as she knew it was turned upside down, and this is how she learnt to fight.

Born, transferred, placed, discharged, returned.
What can we learn from a life in care?

Now her much acclaimed one woman show becomes a ground-breaking book of poems, story-telling and script to coincide with the broadcast of Glue on Radio 4 in September 2017. The book and performances will also feature in the Hull City of Culture Festival.
