Become a Friend of The Poetry Business

From: £50.00 / year

Become a Friend of the Poetry Business to support what Andrew Motion called “one of the most vital and vitalising literary organisations in the country”.

Becoming a Friend of the Poetry Business will help us to publish more titles, publish ‘riskier’ collections, nurture new writers, support established writers, explore the potential for poetry in multimedia formats, set up new projects, host events, provide subsidised places on residencies for low-income writers, and stay afloat for another year.

We are delighted that the Poetry Business has retained Arts Council England support. However, as with most National Portfolio Organisations, this actually involves a cut in funding — at a time when we are doing more than ever. We are not short of ideas, but we do need additional funds to make them happen.

It costs just £50 per year (or £60 for those outside the UK) to become a Friend of the Poetry Business, and in return you receive:

  • A year’s subscription to The North magazine
  • A back issue of The North
  • A free Smith/Doorstop book or pamphlet
  • 20% discount on all Smith/Doorstop titles
  • A free place on a Writing Day
  • 20% off the door price to any Poetry Business hosted reading
  • Discounted entry to the Book & Pamphlet Competition
  • A Poetry Business pencil!

Membership of the Friends of the Poetry Business scheme costs £50 per year for UK residents, or £60 for non UK residents (to cover postage).

Please note:  Once you checkout, you’ll become a member of the Friends scheme and will authorise Stripe to take the fee from your account on this day of each year on a recurring basis.

If you would prefer not to set up an ongoing subscription — or change your mind about being a member at any time — you can contact us to end your subscription.
