Dean Parkin

Dean Parkin is a freelance poet, and runs workshops for children of all ages – from five to one hundred years old. He left school as quickly as he could and became a printer, a publisher and a bookshop manager. He then worked for the UK’s best poetry festival, which also happened to be in Suffolk. Now he enjoys going back to school and being the poet in the classroom, spreading the poetry buzz. The Bubble Wrap (2017) is his first book for young people.

An exuberantly eccentric imagination - Christopher Reid

The Magic of the Bus
It’s a rotten trick.
The bus nevers waits
for you to appear.

The Magic of the Football
His greenhouse window smashed
but over the fence
the children
vanished.

Morning
I think I’m allergic to mornings
I’m tired of getting out of bed
Why do they have to be early
Let’s make ‘em later instead.
